Bind Me Before You Go

Bind Me Before You Go is Harper Kincaid's addition to the Entangled Serve Series. It is a standalone, but some of the characters do overlap. I have read some of the books in that series by other authors, but this is my first read by Harper Kincaid.
David Cavill works as a security expert and is a Shibari rope master at a sex club called Serve. He's asked to take one for the team and "babysit" a newbie's friend while she goes through orientation. He is totally thrown off-guard when he meets the friend, Cassidy. She's sexy as hell and their chemistry leaps off the pages! He asks her to fill out an application too-just in case- but really just wants to know if she would entertain his specialty. No use in getting worked up over nothing.
Cassidy is new to New York. Her roommate talks her into going to the sex club with her since she's been approved and is itching to go, but doesn't want to go alone. Cassidy tells herself one of the reasons she came to New York is to open up more and take chances with people-a vast difference from her upbringing. Once at Serve, she feels a bit out of sorts, but then Wham!, she meets David. Sex on a stick and his voice makes her melt. She decides to fill out the application just to continue talking with him. She can feel the sparks and wants to know more, so why not?
This was a pretty quick read that moved along at a fast pace. At times maybe a bit too fast. I was surprised that Cassidy would jump so quick when David didn't really back up what he was selling her. He talks of mutuality and trust a lot in this book, and asks Cassidy to trust him, but doesn't give her any back. He's got some family issues and believes he isn't good for anybody. His reasoning may be valid, but I didn't like him being so hypocritical. They decide on a two week affair under the guise of Cassidy learning what she likes and wants. It's also labeled as a BDSM book but there is only rope play involved. The scenes at Serve are very low key and not what you would expect. I liked the explanation of David's Shibari and why he likes it so much. I found it interesting that David has a playroom at home but there is really no time spent there teaching Cassidy anything other than the Shibari. I was hoping for more diverse playing since that was the premise of the affair to begin with. I did like how David took care of her and did seem totally into and in tune with her during their scenes.
So would I recommend it? Yes. I enjoyed it even though it was predictable. I also think this is a great intro to kink book if you haven't read that type of book before. I am looking forward to reading other books by Harper Kincaid, especially at Serve, as she has a real knack for writing. The rope scenes she's written are very visual and I had no problem "seeing" what was taking place. Kudos!

Review:
Though it does not list it on the Goodreads site, this is part of the Serve multi-author series. This is a total stand alone and do not need to read any of the others, though I have read quite a few of them and have enjoyed them all. This is a new to me Author and I really liked her writing style and the story and characters in this book. I am not sure how many pages there were in the story, but it flew by, I finished it my lunch hour. The author did a great job of combining sexy and emotion in this story. I particularly liked that David is into shibari and thought that tied (no pun intended) the characters together in the beginning and ending of the story. Both characters know this is affair is on a time limit, but you know those emotions don't know anything about time limits. David is hiding a secret about his family that he is afraid to tell Cassidy about because of his past relationships and Cassidy has to show David that she is not like the others. When David gives up, I like that Cassidy goes and gives him a "Come to Jesus" talk and fights for him and shows that she is different from the rest. Though, he is stubborn and it takes some manipulation to get David with the program, but the ending is very satisfying.
Great for when you want some quick spice in your day.

This book isn't for everyone. I don't think many readers would take this book with them when they go out. This is the kind of book you'd want to enjoy when you just want to unwind on the weekend and have some alone time. It isn't hard to figure out what this book is about from the title. Of course it comes with a sexy cover so you know what you're getting into from the start.
Cassidy moves to New York. She wants to figure out what she wants in her life. She wants to break free of getting into relationships with men where she turns herself into what she thinks they want her to be. Now she's in the driver's seat and she decides to go to a sex club with her roommate one evening. She is entering into a new world and while there she meets a guy.
I do like that Cassidy is the one that's in charge of what happens. She meets David and starts to discover what she wants in her life. David has his own issues about relationships so they are both learning about themselves as they fall in love and deal with how this is going to change their lives. I like that Cassidy is the one that is in control of what is happening since that's a refreshing change to having the guy be in charge. I also like that this book is writing about this like it is just something that some people do. There's no shame in it. Sure it isn't for everyone but just because you aren't into this kind of thing doesn't mean you can't enjoy the story as it unfolds.
